How does our sleep trial work?

A mattress can feel right at first, but it takes a few months of proper sleep to know whether it’s right for your body.

Every Ausbeds mattress includes a sleep trial. You have 7 months from the day it's delivered to sleep on it, see how your body responds and fine-tune it if the firmness is not quite right. Swapping latex or springs is free. The only thing you pay for is delivery.

How the trial works

Sleep on it, adjust it, then tell us how it feels

You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. If an at-home adjustment is not enough, we will recommend the next change.

Sleep on it

Your 7-month trial starts on the delivery date. Give your body time to settle in and notice whether the surface, cushioning or support feels wrong.

You can make small firmness adjustments at home by flipping the springs and positioning the felt.

The latex is the layer directly beneath you. Changing it alters how plush, balanced or firm the surface feels. Soft, medium and firm latex are available.

The main spring unit carries your body weight. If you are sinking too far or the springs are not yielding enough, changing the spring tension can make the mattress noticeably firmer or softer. Soft, medium and firm spring units are available. We will help identify the right option from your latex, body weight and what you are feeling.

Clear costs

The swap is free. You only pay for delivery.

  • Latex swap: We can usually send the latex through Australia Post, so this costs less than a full mattress delivery.
  • Spring swap: Springs are too large to post. Our delivery team brings the new spring unit, sets it up in your mattress and takes the old one away. The cost is the same amount you paid for your original mattress delivery. See our delivery information for more detail.
