What firmness should I choose as a Sienna replacement?

The Sienna is discontinued. For a current mattress, choose the latex surface feel first and let us match medium or firm springs to your body weight. Side sleepers usually prefer the Cloud’s 2 micro spring layers, while back and stomach sleepers often prefer the Aurora’s single layer.

My Sienna had memory foam. Do you still make that?

No. We stopped making memory foam mattresses. The current Aurora and Cloud use natural latex. Different feel – responsive and bouncy, no slow sink.

Can I try the current Sienna replacement?

Yes. Visit the Marrickville workshop. Different surface feels and support setups are available to try.

Usually means the comfort layer or the springs have worn out. If your Sienna is modular (zippered), call us to order an upgraded component.

My Sienna feels too firm/soft

If it's modular, we can swap layers to change the feel. If it's closed, a topper may help with "too firm." "Too soft" in a closed mattress usually means something has softened internally – usually a sign that the mattress needs a replacement.

Memory foam versions trapped heat. Latex versions less so. If you're replacing a memory foam Sienna, the Aurora or Cloud’s natural latex, pocket springs and micro spring layers will run cooler. The Aurora and Cloud have open micro spring layers that allow more air circulation than foam.

The history

Why the change

The name is retired, but the mattress family is not.

The Sienna was in the range for many years. It changed significantly during that time.

Some versions had a latex comfort layer on top. Others had memory foam. Middle layers varied – high-density polyfoam in some, different foams in others. Most used honeycomb pocket springs (the same spring system we use today). Some Siennas were modular: zippered cover, individual layers that can be swapped out. Others were closed units – sealed, no internal access.

That's why we retired it. The current Aurora and Cloud are built with consistent, clearly specified constructions. One name, one build. No guessing.

The latex version of the Sienna followed this structure: springs on the bottom, a foam buffer in the middle, and latex on top.

What's changed? While the Sienna had a great spring system, we have now made improvements to make it even better. We now use 986 pocket springs in a queen, arranged in a honeycomb pattern — 28% more than the industry standard 768.

The Aurora is the closest current starting point for someone who liked the Sienna. It uses honeycomb pocket springs, one micro spring layer and 5cm of natural latex for a firmer, more direct surface than the Cloud.

If your Sienna has a zippable cover, then your mattress will be compatible with the rest of our modular lineup. Contact us before ordering parts and we can check which current components are compatible with your version.

What you can do depends on which version you have.

Modular Sienna (zippered cover)

Your layers can be swapped individually. We still stock the components used across the current range: honeycomb pocket springs, microsprings, high-density polyfoam, and natural latex. Call us, and we'll figure out what fits. Worn-out layers can be upgraded.

Closed Sienna (sealed unit)

The layers can't be swapped. Sometimes the mattress has reached the end of its life, and replacement is the right call. Call us and describe what's happening – we'll give you an honest answer.
